The story in which vinyl records are still the number one entertainment storage music media in the early 20th century had been shaken by the appearance of tape recorders, compact discs , digitals. Around the ‘90s the era of grunge rock, compact discs had been the king of music media. People bought many CDs and had forgotten the beauty of vinyl records.
After some compact discs dominance, two years ago vinyls are coming back in the mainstream. Teens and baby boomers are enlightened on the fact that analog sounds great than digitals. It is really an unexpected thing to happen for vinyl records.
Life seems to be a rollercoaster ride, because fad and fascinations come and go. You thought about the black spins and then later you will be surprise that compact records are coming back. We are not yet sure if people will really like a vinyl record more, because of the issue of portability and its bulkiness. Anything will happen as how will the music landscape is changing. At this time, it is a bit shaky for vinyl records and compact discs to present to the public of who gets an increase in sales and who are not. It has been a pretty wild ride for the two contenders but online music in the form of MP3 is the dark horse that frustrates the sales of these two mediums, but it will really kick CDs out of the stage. After all, CDs doesn’t offer pretty covers as huge as the 12 inches and don’t have the power to deal with the strong presence of the analogs.
Perhaps, in the latter part of this decade we can make a conclusion that everything is a cycle and what is constant is change. Fad or really a mainstay permanent thing for vinyl records will be dealt with much scrutiny in the years to come. CDs destiny depends on the sales of digital downloads and vinyl discs.
