
Avoid using 70 percent alcohol solution because its damaging to vinyl records. Alcohol is water soluble, thus leaving a little or no residue. You can also use a Johnson and Johnson’s Baby Bath with small amounts of water and of course with no rinsing necessary.
Use a clean soft washcloth then use it to wipe the grooves in circular motion. Remember that when cleaning take off your finger rings because it might cause some scratches to vinyl records. Dirty covers or record sleeves are best to leave alone. Maybe you can remove the marks on the cover by using a reliable rubber eraser.
If you encounter some pen marks, a lighter fluid or a damp cloth with a little sprinkle of hair spray can clean them. There is also one technique that can eliminate pen marks is through the use of a masking tape. Place the masking tape on the affected area, applying it like a sticker. Then slowly scratch the masking tape over the affected surface. The sticker residue will stick on the sticker and no more pen marks. Wow!
